Adopt Me LinkPicture of Sammy(Blackie)

Meet Sammy!

Sammy was adopted from HHBR back in 2004 and recently returned due to family illness. Sammy is about 5 years old, weighs 38 lbs, and is a fun loving guy. He's not all basset, but once you meet him it won't really matter. He's a good dog and doing well with the other dogs in his foster home. He is housetrained and knows basic commands. He loves people and hasn't met a stranger yet.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Sam(Stormy)

This is Sam!

Sam was adopted from HHBR back in 2005, but was returned. He was rescued out of an apt parking lot where he was living and being used for target practice. He is still fearful of loud noises and sudden movements. He needs a home with no small children. He needs a family with a lot of patience that will work with him to build up his self- confidence and trust. He is about 5 years old, neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and in good health. He was well taken care of, but with the recent addition of another child and a toddler it was too much stress for Sam and he needs a new home.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Gracie

Say Hi to Gracie!

Gracie was with Harley and when he was returned she came with him. She is 6 years old, weighs 60 lbs., is up to date on her vaccinations, and is spay. Gracie likes being around people and likes to fetch balls in a kiddie pool with her head all the way under the water to get the ball -- she's a determined basset! She also likes riding in the car and loves treats. She likes to be the bossy one. She and Harley are a pair and we need to try and keep them together, so the adoption fee will be for one dog not two if adopted together.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Floyd

Here's Floyd!

What a sad story for this guy. Floyd was at a local shelter and was diagnosed with heartworms. The shelter had him treated and he stayed with a family while going through treatment. They were going to adopt him, but in the end they couldn’t; so, back to the shelter Floyd went. So now he’s with HHBR looking for a forever home of his own.

He is a neuter male, about 4-6 years old. Has been successfully treated for heartworms and is up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

Floyd is the perfect age for a basset -- young enough to still play and run but old enough to know when its time to stop! He gets along with the other bassets in his foster home. While at the vet’s they said he was one of the friendliest basset they’d seen. He’d love to share that friendliness with a family of his own!

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Honey

Say Hello to Honey!

Honey was surrender to HHBR with Chuck. She is 3 years old, up-to-date on her vaccinations and tested negative for heartworms and other internal parasites. She weighs 50 lbs, but could stand to lose a few pounds to be at her best weight. She'd do well as a walking companion for someone. She likes children, but can get over-excited and jump up on them. Want Honey to do something, just give her a treat -- like many bassets she'd food motivated. Honey is very playful and really enjoys other animals and people.

Chuck was adopted from HHBR ~ 2 1/2 years ago, unfortunately his family was not able to keep him and he was returned. Chuck is about 4 41/2 years old, neutered and weighs in at 70 lbs. Yes, Chuck is a big ole basset! He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and tested negative for heartworms and other intestinal parasites. Chuck lived with a cat, but sometimes would get over excited around the cat. His previous owner said he was good with kids, his foster home says he can get pretty rowdy when he plays. Chuck loves attention and is most interested in spending time with people. He would do well in home with a fenced yard for running and playing and he'd love to go on neighborhood walks with you.

He gets along with everyone, but becomes timid and withdrawn in stressful situations. Rocky is the perfect age for a basset, about 5 years old, young enough to play and old enough to know when to lay down and rest. He does like going for walks and sniffing all the new and exciting things in his path. He's happy go lucky, but life has been a challenge for him. His previous owners only had him a few months before they had to give him up, so he's been moved around a lot. He's a player and likes balls and frisbees best. He is housetrained.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Dave and Axel

Meet Dave and Axel

Dave and Axel are basset mixes, but what cuties! They are ~1 year old and full of all that wonderful puppiness that makes being with them a joy. They are bonded and will need to be adopted together.

Both are neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchippped.

This is a note from their foster mom about them, "I just wanted to let you know that they are just fine, eating and chewing their bones, and running and playing with my two. They haven’t given us a moment’s trouble, and they are doing very well with going to the yard with our two to do their business. Whoever adopts these two is going to get two very sweet and very affectionate hounds. They are just adorable and they both love, love, love to be loved." They’ll need a yard to play in and an active family.

Adopt Me LinkPicture of Zoey

Introducing Zoey!

Zoey was found on the side of road and then left at a local shelter.
She is about 2-3 years old, spay and microchipped. She weighs 42 lbs. and is up to date on her vaccinations and tested negative for heartworms. So far life hasn't been easy for our little Zoey. She had a doggy incident in her first foster home and needed to be moved to another foster home. We didn't have any open ones so she was boarded for several weeks. Then she had an adoption pending; but, after three months and family emergency it fell through. When she first came to us, Zoey was a bossy dog and wanted all the attention for herself. After spending time in her foster home she has learned to play with one of the other dogs there. Zoey is more people oriented than dog and prefers the company of humans to her own kind. Zoey is looking for a home where she will be a family companion. She would do well as an only dog, but in the right home she might work with another dog. She needs moderate exercise and a yard to run and play in.
